Busy, Busy, Busy

Just letting everyone know that I'm still here. It's just been crazy here the past couple of days. I haven't even had time to play with my new stampin' Up! order. Yes, I just received my first order from the "new" catalog! Do you know how hard that was to wait?!?! I promised myself I wouldn't order though, until I sold some of my old sets.

but anyways, hopefully, I 'll get some time to play today/tonight and will be able to post something soon! Thanks for being stopping by!

"Recycling...."

A while ago I started a 6x6 scrapbook page with this layout....but never finished it or changed my mind or something. so I stuck this in with my card bases, planning on using it for something else.....Well finally, months later (like probably almost a year) I decided to make a card with it.

It's was a really fast card, but a card at least! I've had the Nursery Necessities Stamp Set for a while, and have never really played with it. Of course, I thought it'd be really cute for scrapbooking, but I haven't scrapbooked (really scrapbooked) for a long time. I've done a page here and there, but haven't really made a dent into my HUGE stack of pictures! Gettting sidetracked (is that supposed to be one word or two?) again.....back to the card.

When I saw the old 6x6 "page" I automatically thought about Nursery necessities. So I grabbed that set and wanted to use the "rock-a-bye baby" sentiment. So I pulled out the moon and the star stamp also. And this is what I came up with. Like I said, it's really simple! :) Not really any accessories on it, but might add some later....who knows!

Trick or Treat?

Garden Breeze

I was playing around with my cardstock samples (I cut a 2 x 3 piece of all my cardstock and play with them once in a while to get new color combos) and I found this color combo. It's Baja Breeze, Cameo Coral, Apricot Appeal and Kiwi Kiss. Not sure if they're "meant" to go together, but I liked it. I think I'll play around with it a little more and rearrange the colors.

I used the Garden Whimsy Stamp Set. I don't pull this set out too much....In fact, I've probably only used this set a handful of times. It's just one of those that doesn't inspire me much.

I stamped the main image in VersaMark and applied Pastels (Apricot Appeal and Cameo Coral) over the top with a Sponge Dauber. I matted the main image on Cameo Coral.

I scalloped a strip of Apricot appeal with the Scallop Edge Punch and attached that to the edge of Kiwi Kiss Cardstock. I tied some Apricot Appeal grograin to hide the "seam" of the two cardstocks.

Before adhering anything to the base, I stamped the sentiment in Baja Breeze in the lower right corner.

Inspiration: Windsor Know Designer Series Paper

I decided to do one of Julee's Sketches over at Poetic Artistry. I've always wanted to do them, just never do! I couldn't get the angled piece the way I wanted it so i just left if off. LOL! I also used the Windsor Knot DSP (Designer Series Paper) as inspiration. I just love these colors together!

I started with a So Saffron base and stamped the little circle stamp from One of a Kind randomly over the front of the base. I then grabbed a piece of chocolate chip and used the Scallop Edge punch. I also added some White Grosgrain ribbon to the Scalloped chocolate piece.

Before attaching the chocolate piece I added the Sage Shadow piece to the bottom center of the card. Then I added the Scalloped top piece.

I stamped the large flower from the same set in Chocolate Chip and stamped it on Whisper White. I matted it on a piece of Old Olive that is a 1/4" larger. I stamped the large flower again, but this time in So Saffron ink on So Saffron Cardstock cutting out the center flower. I adhered the center flower with a dimensional.

I took the orange rub on from A Perfect Day Rub-ons package. Centered it on my olive button and rubbed with the Popsicle stick until it appears lighter (not sure if that is the right word or not?). Then I added a glue dot to the back of my button and centered it on my So Saffron flower.

I then finished my card by adhering the olive mat to the card and adding another rub-on from the same pack to the bottome of the card.

Magic Pastels

Here is the card I demonstrated at my Open House. I really liked showing this one, because it shows how messy you can color and it's still looks pretty!! I also loved how it really showed how handy the Stamp-a-ma-jig is! Everyone at my open house that was "new" to stamping thought I just made up the name Stamp-a-ma-jig. It really is something I would have said if I didn't know the name of a product, but I assured them that that was really the name. Lol! I had so much fun at my Open house and wanted to thank everyone for coming!

Magic Pastels
I learned this technique from a DVD I purchased through Stampin' Up! (demonstrators only). The gal that showed it is Karen Motz. I hope it's okay that I put this on my blog...I assume it is since it's a Workshop WOW. If it's not, please let me know and I will remove it.

Supplies:
Line Stamp Set (I used Bloomin' Beautiful)
Stamp-a-ma-jig
Light colored Ink (I used Creamy Caramel)
Dark Colored Ink (I used Chocolate Chip)
Stampin' Pastels

1) Ink the main image in your light colored ink and stamp off a couple times onto scrap paper. Then stamp onto your neutral cardstock.

2) Grab your pastels and start "scribbling"/adding color. It will look "ugly" at first.

3) After you are done coloring, ink up your main image again, but this time using a darker color (such as Basic Black or Chocolate Chip).

4) Grab your Stamp-a-ma-jig and line up your image sheet with the corner of the black handle (not sure if that's really what it's called, but I guess it works) and stamp your main image.

5) Grab the main image that you colored and line up the image on the image sheet with your colored image and place the black handle up against the image sheet. Be careful not to move your stamped image or it won't line up right.

TIP: If my paper is smaller than the image sheet I stick a little tape to the back to hold it in place (on my grid paper/stamping area).

6) Once you have everything lined up remove the image sheet and ink up your main image in your dark ink. Line up your stamp with the corner of your black handle and stamp down onto your colored image.

7) the darker ink on top of your colored image just pulls all that "scribbled" color together to make a beautiful image!

I hope you enjoyed my first "tutorial"....sorry there aren't any picture and there probably won't be for a while....I think I might be the only one that doesn't have a digital camera yet! I'm so behind on this and it's sort of frustrating! Especially when I'm scanning and creating all the time! Hopefully, I'll have more tutorials for you sooner than later. Open house

I had my very first Open House last night! We made two make and takes and I demonstrated a card for everyone with a technique off of the Workshop wow DVD (for demonstrators) called Magic Pastels. I love it 'cause I didn't have to worry about messing up when coloring. LOL


Below are the two Make and Takes we did. I tried to keep them pretty simple because I had didn't know for sure what "level" everyone would be at....am I making any sense? For some reason today, I can't get my words out right. Not even when I'm typing!


The bookmark make and take, I saw on another blog. Can't give a name or a link as I don't remember where I saw it....I just wrote down the measurements when I saw the video (I think I watched it on a video?!) and ran off to make one. I do know that the image part (mine is the "happy" stamp) was black and I changed mine to brown...but I think that's all I changed. I also know that it used the line stamp from the Stamp Set "Live your Dream", but I skipped that part since it's not current.

In Colors

I made this awhile ago, but forgot to post about it. I wanted to play around with the new In Colors and this is what I came up with! I also knew that I wanted to play with the new set Fresh Cuts. I love the background in this stamp set!

I got this color combo from the Mix It Up Chart (posted below and I will add it to my sidebar) basic Black, Riding Hood red, Kiwi Kiss and taken with Teal. I don't use Taken with Teal very often, so I thought it would be fun to step a little outside my comfort zone! Haha....

I started by stamping the background image in VersaMark onto riding hood red cardstock. I then embossed it with Black Embossing powder and trimmed it down and layered it with Kiwi kiss. I then added dimensionals and adhered it to a layer of taken with teal cardstock.

I stamped "for you" in teal on Kiwi Kiss and punched it out using the small oval punch. I also punched a piece of Riding Hood Red with the Large Oval and layered it with the sentiment piece.

I grabbed my Crop-a-dile and punched a hole on each end to thread Basic Black grosgrain through and adhered it to the back of the Taken with Teal layer before adhering it to the basic Black card base. Not my favorite card, but it works! Thanks for stopping by!

Cute!

This isn't really Stampin' Up!, but I thought it was cute and wanted to share.

I was on the computer when i heard my two girls run up to my husband and say, "Daddy, here this is for you!" and hands him something. He brings it in and this is what it was :

My oldest is always making things (drawing pictures, making cards with me....anything she can get her hands on she turns into something-- did that make sense?). I did not help her at all with this, in fact, I've never even used punches for something other than they were "meant" for. You know to punch out stamps or to "frame" a sentiment or something. Never to make bats, fences, people, animals, cartoons...or anything like that. I think all those things look awesome, but just have never sat down and made anything....so she didn't even get this idea from seeing me. Okay....I'm just a little excited! Can you tell? LOL. I love her creativity! Okay enough I'll let you go...better go monitor now! ;)

Wow Flowers

The scan on this picture isn't that great! There is supposed to be Pink Pirouette flowers in the white space (next to the baja breeze flowers). I haven't played much with this set....lately it's been Dreams du Jour! I just love that butterfly!!! Okay, but that's not the stamp I should be talking about! LOL.

If you haven't noticed I like to use sketches or color combos to get me started when I'm in my stamp room. One, because I usually don't get much time without my little ones following me around or wanting to help (yes, I love every second of this...it's just more difficult getting things accomplished)! So I need to speed up my stamping time any way that I can....so I turn to sketches and/or color combos. For this card, I used help with my color combo...haven't played too much with the in colors, so I'm still getting used to them. Stampin' Up!(R) has a color combo chart for the new in colors and I end up using that a lot!! ---------->Click Here<---------- to view the chart.

For some reason, this color combo jumped out at me. Basic gray, Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette and Baja Breeze. I started with white cardstock and stamped the flower image from Wow Flowers randomly in Pink Pirouette and Baja Breeze.

I cut a strip of Baja Breeze and punched it with the Scallop Edge Punch. I attached that to the stamped strip of white cardstock and added some wide regal rose ribbon to hide the "seam".

For the sentiment, I stamped the "birthday wishes" in Basic Gray onto the bottom right corner of the Baja Breeze piece and adhered that to the Basic Gray card base.

To finish the card, I stamped the flower image in Basic gray onto Whisper white and punched it out with the 1 1/4" circle punch. I matted it with a punch 1 3/8" circle of Baja Breeze and layered that onto a scalloped piece of regal rose. Hope you've enjoyed my card.
