Sneak Peak: 2008 In Colors

I wanted to play with the new In Colors before I went to sleep the other night, so I found a layout that I liked in the current catalog (Spring/Summer 2008). I changed the colors using the soon to be released SU! In Colors (Pacific Point, Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Tangerine tango, Kiwi Kiss and Pink Pirouette).

On this card I started by punching out the 5 petal flower punch with Riding Hood Red Cardstock. First I stamped the line of flowers from the Stamp Set A Beautiful Thing. I stamped the end flower three times, but in different colors (i'm sure there was an easier way to do this, but at the time I wasn't thinking! LOL) starting with Tangerine Tango, Riding Hood Red and Kiwi Kiss. Mix and matched the little center flowers. I used the flower trio from the Three for you Punch box to punch out the little flowers....

I stamped the solid flower in Tangerine Tango onto white cardstock and cut it out... I inked the lined flower in Riding Hood Red ink and punched the center with a 3/4" circle punch...raised that up with Dimensionals and adhered it to the Tango flower.

After cutting and punching out all the flowers and such, I moved on to the base of the card. I cut a piece of Kiwi Kiss and mounted it towards the bottom of the page. Instead of using DSP for the orange piece on the original card I used a stamped strip of Tangering Tango (stamped with the little flower line).

I adhered everything to the card (look at card for placement) and stamped the "sentiment" in White Craft Ink.

Instead of dry embossing the bottom of the card I paper pierced it.

Hope you like my "version" of the card. thanks for looking!

Catching up: Stamp Club Projects (February 08)

I'll be uploading projects from this past year that I made for my Stamp Club. These ones are from February 2008. I figure doing this will be good for my Stamp Club members. In case they want to make one of these cards again, and just want to know what it looked like or what not. So please bare with me....I'll post new projects in between. :)

On the Olive Thank you Card I showed them a technique that Anne (the hostess that month) wanted me to show. I'm not sure what the technique is really called, but we just called it the Watercolor Technique.

I also showed them how to make a Gate Fold Card (tutorial on SCS by Beate). We made an easter card with the new A Good Egg set (the first Easter Set I just fell in love with)!

Rockin' Teal

I was just playing around the other day and decided to do a challenge over at Splitcoaststampers (SCS). The color challenge was to use Taken with Teal, White and Wild Wasabi (or Glorious Green).

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, but I really wanted to play with a new stamp set (Sweet Serendipity) that I haven't had a chance to play with since I bought it. And this is what I came up with. It always helps me when I have either a sketch or a color combo to play with. I get interrupted a lot when I'm stamping, so anything to make it go a little faster is always a plus! :)

I started out with a Taken with Teal base. Added a white layer and a Wild Wasabi layer on top of the white. I wanted to stamp a background, but didn't want to get up to grab one, so I just used what was in the stamp set (the "flower" stamp). Stamped it repeatedly onto Wild Wasabi. I grabbed the True Friend stamp set that was sitting on my desk, and Rock n' Rolled it in Wild Wasabi and Taken with Teal ink. I haven't used my Build a Brads yet so I thought I would add one to my card. I stamped the "circle flower" in Taken with Teal and punched it out with 1/2" circle punch and glued it to the brad and put a "pebble" on top of the punched image. Before adding everything to the card I tied some ribbon around the card. Added the flower image and the sentiment. Hope you like my card and thanks for stopping by!

Celebrate Card Recipe:
Stamps: True Friend and Sweet Serendipity
Paper: Taken with Teal, White and Wild Wasabi
Ink: Wild Wasabi and Taken with Teal
Accessories: Build-a-brad and White grosgrain

Catching up: January's stamp club projects

I've had this loaded on my computer since I first created it, but wasn't sure if all my stamp club members would want to see the projects before we did them so I didn't post. My plan was to post them after we created them, but never got around to it. So that's what I'm doing now. Hope you don't mind! ;)

At this stamp club I try to show a different type of fold and a technique. Here I showed the masking technique and we made a buckle card (click on "buckle card" for the tutorial done by Beate). The other project that month was a notebook cover (which I don't have a picture of). I had them make them to use for a wish list or whatever they felt like using it for I guess!

Stampin' supplies: (hopefully I get them all right and remember them all) :)
Stamps: Priceless (love this stamp set), so swirly wheel (jumbo) and Holiday & wishes
Paper: Rose Red, Blush blossom and Regal rose
Ink: Basic Black, Rose red and pretty in Pink
Accessories: Word window punch, Stampin' dimensionals

Just Playin' Around...

Yesterday, I sat down to play with some new techniques using my brayer. I'm wanting to show this technique (something using the brayer) at my stamp club this month. If any of you have a favorite technique using the brayer let me know.... if ya want to anyway?!?!

Not sure if I'll be showing this one or a different one, but I started working with this one first. I made my focal image (the technique part) first and I made it a smaller piece because i was just practacing...but why let it go to waist so i decided to make a card with it. I got the color combo using the color coach: bordering blue, more mustard, sage shadow and Not quite navy and a little so saffron. I used the stamp set Beautiful Life. Hope you like the card....thanks for stopping by!

A Couple of "old" sets....

I made this card today, while I was at my Mom's house visiting my sister. I was making this card to give to my aunt for her birthday (tomorrow), but I ended up liking it so much that I couldn't give it to her...so I ended up making another one. which I need to get in the habbit of doing.

The "Celebrate..." stamp is from the That's Nice stamp set which was in the 2007 Spring mini catalog. I stamped it in Not Quite Navy onto very vanilla cardstock, inking the edges in creamy caramel. you can't really see it in the photo/scan, but it is layered with not quite navy and Ruby red cardstock. I set that aside and stamped the itty bitty star in Not Quite Navy randomly on the base of the card. The star stamps used on this card (the "a wish for you" and the little star on the base) are from the set In the Stars from the 2008 Occassions Mini. I shouldn't have used this set becasue now I wish I would have ordered it before it was no longer available....oh well...i can just borrow my moms. (THANKS MOM!) :)

I will apologize now for being all over the place....I'm not a morning person and for some reason I got up pretty early this morning and I keep nodding off. so I keep forgetting where I'm at.

I stamped the "a wish for you" star in ruby red and punched it out with the Lg. star punch. I knew this card needed a little more, so I added the close to cocoa crumpled (is that the right word) piece, trying to keep the "aged" look. I then added the vanilla ribbon and it was still missing something, so I added a little strip of ruby red cardstock and slipped it under the ribbon. i sponged that with ink and distressed the edges.

I hope you liked my card. If you have any questions or if i left anything out (remember I keep knodding off) feel free to ask by leaving a comment. thanks for stopping by!
