Masculine Happy Birthday

So to be honest, I have the hardest time making masculine cards! It might have something to do with the fact that I don't have much to work with...most of my stamps are girly! I have tons of flowers and I just can't get enough of them.

Anyways...Today I need to make a card for my best friends' husband's birthday, it took me an hour to decide that I was just going to CASE something from the FWC (Fall Winter Catalog). So since I have the starstruck stamp set and it's boyish/manly...I decided on the card made on page 89.

Didn't do it exactly...I made it a 5x5 Close to Cocoa instead of a 3x3; with the Chocolate Chip Wide Grosgrain Ribbon wrapped around the card base. Since I couldn't get the stars lined up in a timely fashion, I just randomly stamped them onto Really Rust cardstock. I matted the Really Rust with Chocolate Chip and distressed the edges with my fingernail. I then distressed the Very Vanilla and stamped "happy birthday" from All Holidays in Chocolate Chip. I took the star stamp and stamped it in Close to Cocoa ink and embossed it in clear and then colored in the center with a Really Rust Stampin' Write Marker. I cut out the circle/star shape and adhered it to a punched 3/4" circle of Sage Shadow with Stampin' Dimensionals. Also, adhered the Sage Shadow to the card with a Stampin' Dimensional.
If I wasn't making any sense at all, I apologize! It's past my bed time! :)

Just an update

I just got back from a little trip to my sisters house, so once I get caught up with laundry and all that good stuff I will stamp and show you what I've created! Thanks for stopping by!

Yes, I'm still alive! My family has been sick, so I haven't had much time to stamp! But I did have time to get this simple card done today. I love it, even though it's simple-sometimes simple is beautiful...hope you agree!? :) I wasn't even planning on doing a card...I just wanted to play with my new sets and try out some watercoloring with my new markers! I'm very happy with the result!

I started with watercolor (WC) paper and the flowers, from the hostess set Oh, So Lovely and watercolored with my Stampin' Up markers (More mustard, Ruby Red and Always Artichoke). First time using markers to watercolor! I mounted the WC paper on More Mustard and then added a strip of Ruby Red behind that. Before I glued that down, I used my new wheel Rough Texture with Always Artichoke ink and made the base of my card. I then took a scrap of Ruby Red and placed some Always Artichoke brads on the side. Then I took So Many Sayings, another hostess set and inked just the line of words I needed with my Always Artichoke marker and stamped it on the ruby red! And glued everything down!

Sorry, if none of that made any sense! I'm tired, but wanted to get something new on my blog before I went to bed! Thanks for looking and I hope you like it as much as me!
